Kidepo park fees and the Uganda Wildlife Authority

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) sets the tariff for the park. The current tariff runs from July 2024 to December 2026. Kidepo is a Category A park. An adult foreign non-resident pays $40 for entry, a foreign resident $30, a visitor from the rest of Africa $25 and an East African Community citizen UGX 20,000. Entry lasts 24 hours from the time you enter, and staying longer counts as another day. Check the current amount before you book, and on a tour ask whether permits and park fees are included.

Entry, vehicles and activities are separate items. If you plan a Kidepo safari, add the game drive or walk to the entry fee, and add a vehicle fee if you bring a vehicle.

Uganda Wildlife Authority: how to pay

Paying the park fees.

Card payment is possible at point-of-sale terminals, including at gates and park offices, and official bank payments are accepted. Do not count on a card machine or the mobile network working at every gate, and bring a second way to pay. Keep your receipts. The gates are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Camping and community visits are arranged separately, so ask about them early. If you book a tour, the operator usually pays the fees for you, so ask what is included. For other Uganda parks and their tariffs, see the guides to Murchison Falls park fees and Queen Elizabeth park fees. The route to the park is on the getting there page.
